Hello friends.

Please forgive me for being such a ridiculous blogger. Is it fair to even call me a blogger anymore? I haven’t posted something in ages. I’m aggravated at my own self. And I’m in awe of all the lovely ladies out there who manage to post the most profound and inspiring messages – just about every week or even everyday- on their own blogs. You guys are incredible.

We just spent a week down south visiting family. It was a much needed visit – for me, anyway. Because I live 1200 miles from my closest of kin – I tend to feel a bit stranded at times. What makes it even harder – is that I have one of those families that you actually want to spend time with. The kind that will make you laugh till you cry. The kind that will pray their hearts out for you. The kind that gets on your nerves but it is safe to tell them so. The kind that makes you feel – wanted and needed and loved. They are Texans, after all.

I got to do the normal stuff – like eat barbecue, ride around my old stomping grounds, sleep in, go to a baseball game, cook, eat Whataburgers, and devour bowls of Blue Bell ice cream every night. I also went through dozens of keepsake boxes. I found a yearbook, pictures of old friends, letters from boys, tapes of me running track, old dance costumes, my big Texas hair bows, prom dresses, cards, notebooks, and  more recent things – like wedding stuff and college textbooks. I enjoyed every minute of it. To top it all off – I got to do yoga with my aunts and uncles. It was both hilarious and wonderful. I’m hooked on it now.

I didn’t want to leave. I never really do – but this time I just felt like I needed a few more doses of family. (And a few more plates of barbecue.) But here I am – back up north – getting into the swing of things here. And I’m thankful. While I don’t much like the cloudiness, the cold, the absence of good Tex-Mex food, and the distance – I do love the changing of the seasons, the sweet friends we have here – both old and new, and our church – not to mention…our health, our house, and the little bit of family we have here.

So until this summer – when we go down to enjoy the 100 degree weather – I will be grateful….and I will daydream about sinking my teeth into an El Fenix enchilada.

Have a great week 🙂

Hi Kate, Welcome Back! I've been checking in here and there and was hoping you'd be back to blogging soon! I enjoy reading your posts!

Glad you got to visit your family…it's hard to be so far away…we moved from MA back to Buffalo, NY almost a year ago now and are enjoying time closer to them…But life is full of seasons and family or not, God is near by in each one!

Kate, have I told you lately how much you bless my heart? Thank you for your kind words on Heart Choices. I was unable to have my own children. So I have a question for you? Can I adopt you? Ha, ha …

I just think if I had a daughter I would like her to be like you Kate.

I can't wait until you share all about your life now with the little ones. I know you're busy but I also know God is with you. I'm encouraging you to write occasionally to let your blogging friends know how you are. I love to read and be a part of life with Jottin Mama.

    You are precious!

    Hugs to you,
    Debbie

remind me… I seem to remember you hail from my current neck of the woods (B/CS Aggieland), while I originally came from close to where you are now… is your family near the home of Bluebell? would it be too weird to meet in person sometime when you are home to Texas? After a year of following your posts, I feel like we should count as friends!

Hope you had a great visit. The weather was crap the week my parents came from Ohio in February. I keep telling them they should come in March so they can see the bluebonnets.

    Hi, sweet Kate!
So good to hear from you…here at your blog and over at mine.:) I love reading about you loving your family. It makes me want to pack myself in your bag next time you go home! 🙂 I love the blessing of love and laughter with family!!! And I love eating good food!!! 🙂

Thanks for your sweet comment. The results aren't until Friday. A sweet friend reminded me yesterday that whatever happens, it will be God's greatest thing for me. So win…it's His greatest. Lose…it would still be His greatest…cause He knows just what I need and always acts in my best interest.

Thanks, again, for all of your sweet encouragement!
    Lots of love,
    K 🙂

I really enjoyed seeing you cousin! I was mad that I didn't get to spend more time with you b/c of our trip (which was awesome by the way), but I did think about you while I was in Mexico, about how much you and Derek would enjoy a trip like that! I hope to get to see more of the little ones next time too! I'll call you soon and we can chat!

Sounds like a great trip … and a great family.

I'm glad you're back for me, but I'm sad you're back for you. I can't imagine being so far from such a wonderful family! You're one tough lady to be strong enough to come back and not just lay on the floor in the Texas airport, kicking your legs and crying to stay. Well, or at least you're a tougher lady than I would be in your situation, perhaps I underestimate the average lady in an attempt to make myself feel better… 😉

So glad to see you back! I'm glad you had fun times with your family. Time goes by way too quickly.

You are such a blessing to me.

    Love you,
    Debbie
