I began reading Ruth last week.

Wanting so much to hear, to understand, to know – I flipped papyrus wondering where to land and Ruth is where I found myself.

With the rest of the house still hushed from night I began my journey early, in the dark dim hours. Making my way through chapter one, I came to the end of verse seven and stopped. Truly stopped…like a squirrel who’s found a fine nut to burry for winter.

The end of verse seven said this …“and they took the road that would lead them back to Judah.”

As soon as it hit my eyes, it hit my gut. I grabbed some ink and scribbled out the following in my Bible…“Let us all take the road back to you, Lord.”

It has been said that Naomi and her family should have never left their homeland in the first place. So this verse, right here in the middle of chapter one, it speaks to everyone who has detoured a bit, marched off defiant and on purpose at some point, or found themselves pulled off path for some reason.

Me.

It’s for me.

“And they took the road that would lead them back to Judah.”

Whatever land you find yourself in, no matter what or who got you there, no matter how long you’ve stayed, no matter how many times you exited off the main way – The God of all creation can get you back on course.

You don’t have to clean up, rise up, or tidy anything into perfection before you will yourself over. He’ll meet you right there in the mess, the crook, the abyss. Just a simple yielding and yell for help is needed. Just a recognition that something went wrong, and the road that leads you back to freedom needs to be found again.

This could pertain to anything.

Marriage.

Parenting.

Friendships.

Family.

Faith.

Substances.

Health.

Work.

Finances.

If you are looking around in any area of your life…feeling like you’ve wafted away from His good plans, then you and I together here can make a choice to right the ship again. You just need to know you need Him. He’ll navigate. He knows where you are. And He knows where you need to be.

The road back home might be somewhat strenuous. Lengthy. Maybe even embarrassing. Difficult.

But it won’t leave you at a dead end.

You may get turned around a time or two. You may want to go back to the land you’ve lived in for a while, out of familiarity. You might get discouraged. Naomi and Ruth’s journey back to Judah was more than likely wrought with perils. But they persisted anyway… so that they could get back to the land of blessing.

And then, Boaz! Ruth meets Boaz.

I’m not going to tell you the story. There are rewards in reading it for yourself. But know, hopping back on the boulevard that leads you home, leads you to peace-filled provision and blessing.

This year, I have some walking to do.

You, too?

Ah yes, we’re all just here finding our way back Home.

Oh WOW….you hit me smack-dab (Tx term) in the heart! I pray daily for not only myself, but others very close to me, to realize all it takes is to take the path that will lead them back to Him. To forgive and to reconcile with Him by your side is such a rewarding relief. Thank you, Katie……My love to you & crew !

This really blessed me this morning. I believe we often detour on this journey, and we must find our way back to the faith filled place in Judah. I have some walking to do.
