There’s a baby bouncer sitting next to our oversized stack of library books. It has freshly laundered blankets, bibs, and burp rags piled on top.

A pack-n-play is all set up and displayed right in front of my bedroom window. A pink and white bottle cleaner is resting upright next to my kitchen sink. And board books are stacked beside my dining table.

My antique family rocker has found its way back to the living room. It’s been cleaned and prepped and is now sitting right in front of the fireplace, ready for the rocking.

No, no. Mama’s not pregnant.

But yes. A bouncing girl child will be popping in here most days of the week now. I have the keen privilege of tending to a fine little five month old these days, while her parents are out using their talents and giftings in the corporate world.

My three young ones are delighted about it. Each of them has a unique love for babies of all kinds, have been begging for another one to fill the house, and have helped me in our preparations for our new little friend to come.

This whole thing really just made its way to my lap, right from the kind hand of God Himself. With budgets tightening even more so, we had been praying about how I could supplement our income this year, while still homeschooling the children.

Ideally, I would write and make some money doing so. But, bringing in any kind of substantial pay from forming words, might be a long way off for me. So, we started considering more probable options.

Then, this.

Other nanny care fell through, some emails were sent, some prayers were said, and today – I welcome a wee one again.

It’s still dark out. Dawn has yet to break day. I’m sitting here typing with you in a grateful state. Maybe even a giddy one, albeit a bit antsy.

The provision that has passed to us from the hand of the Father is causing me to bow in thanksgiving. And the opportunity to pour into and tenderly care for one of His small ones, is an honor I do not take faintly. It’s a high and virtuous assignment to nurture new ones.

So, my prayers have been thick and many over our new adventure here. Feel free to allow yours to join in.

It’s Monday morning, and it’s making me wonder what your day holds. All the eyes that lay on these words will have a story of their own unfolding today.

So before I push the publish button on this post – I’ll drop to shaky knees and pray for every heart that ends up pausing here…. That you will find joy in the everyday, strength in the unusual, and faith in it all.

I hear my oldest stirring just on the other side of this thin rent house wall.

Mama better get moving. My hands, lap, and heart will be full and occupied very soon.

Big Monday hugs all around.

After reading the first sentence I immediately jumped ahead looking for a pregnancy announcement! I must say I was a bit disappointed 🙂 But what an incredible gift you are giving those parents that their precious child would be cared for by you and your family. I look forward to hearing more!
