Ah, the piano and strings are playing here again!

And my writing flame is flickering!

And I’m sitting happy in front of a window, candle lit, sun shining, flowers potted, music playing….

…letting words flow.

Life feels good because of it.

The children are tucked away in classrooms, and Mama here isn’t this semester. I’m back to home, to words, to me.

As it turns out, if you are called to be a stay at home mother and you want to have a renewed vigor for your post, go work for a while. Half a year maybe. Then return. Your heart will roll tenderly toward the walls you once despised.

I imagine the reverse is also true. If you’re called to work and want a new vivacity for employment, stay home for a stint. Chances are, you’ll end up appreciating the purposes for which you have been beckoned.

And if not, for either sort, maybe a change is pending. Pray about it.

Speaking of prayer, I have pondered and prayed about what this space should morph itself into this year. The word on the street several moons back was that blogs are on the back burner. Fortunately for me, new polls and research are showing that folks are actually pining for them again, as tiny morsels on the social media outlets aren’t filling enough anymore. Amen.

I feel so led to give this another year’s go, but this time with a pinch of that renewed vigor I mentioned above.

I plan to post two to three times a week, each with its own theme of sorts:

Monday(ish) I will be taking a cue from a writing prompt book my husband gifted me for Christmas. I will answer one of the questions in each post. I will get to share stories about my childhood. I will get to tell you about the wild and wonderful and hurtful that has transpired in my 35 years. It will be fun and challenging and revealing. A few real examples of the questions I could answer are…

“Have you ever experienced something that just could not be logically explained?”

“Write about a messy area in your home, workplace, or life.”

“What do you do, even when you do not feel like it?”

Things like that. I’m looking forward to it.

Wednesday(ish) I would like to dive into the topic I mentioned in my last post. I had said that my heart was in a bit of a quandary about schooling options. After much thought, we are going to go for “the best of both” for a while. I am setting up a homeschooling home with publicly schooled children residing in it. In these posts, I will…

Share how we are doing that, what is working, what isn’t, and how to dabble in it all.

I am finding myself extremely passionate about home learning AND the public school system – and I plan to share why in the first post.

Thursday/Friday/Saturday(ish) I’d like to have the freedom of a random post most weeks. Whatever life is throwing, whatever I am learning, whatever kinds of joys or wisdoms or encounters I’m having…I’ll write about them on these days. Could be in the form of a poem, a review, a simple reflection, a recipe, an idea,a fictional story…it’s open!

I also have a few more writing projects I’ll present here as well. And if I ever have the humble privilege of guest writing on other sites, I’ll most certainly let it be known in these parts.

I pray this place lifts you up and draws you close this year. Leave me a line (here/FB/Insta…) just to say hi and let me know you’re coming along. I like and need the interaction. You’re a big part of this.

Thank you for journeying with me, friends. Have a happy day.

Your overview for our New Year sounds both timely and befitting in this chaotic world we call home. Seeing as how I “own stock” in your sweet Texas heritage, I have “rights” as your Grandmother to encourage you in all you do. I see some of your upbringing shining through your writings and I am thankful and grateful for you and your God centered talent. Texas Mawmaw❤

I’m sure you didn’t know that you are and have been a great example to me on being a mother, wife, and woman through your blog and wisdom gatherings. Your light shines brightly in our church especially to young couples and families. God has given you a gift as a wordsmith and you use it well.

Kate – I so enjoy your sincere writing which reveals your heart, your identity. May the Spirit inspire & encourage you as He loves & leads you & your readers. I am excited to share in this. Before my daughter, Laurie, suddenly went to live in the Light of Jesus love in June of 2017, she was a writer for Scholastic & blogged, edited & inspired her husband’s sermons. She sang beautifully & passed this music to her now 7 year old son Oliver Tate.
We are so blessed to be in the CHF family and look forward to your ministry with your gifted hubby. Sorry such a long comment. Love & prayers from Kathy (alias Katie at work)
