I do so love the first day of something. Even if it is just February.

This sweet, short month here all known for it’s pink, and red, and leap year…welcome to it.

There’s a zeal associated with beginnings that gets me going. I’m drawn to the outsets, the dawns, the alphas. This is positive, and it has it’s certain benefits, but…

There’s something to be said about people who have passion smack in the middle of something, or people who push, and determine, and gust their way to the final steps of an endeavor, or people who have a clear enough vision of victory that they can see it all the way through.

Getting something started can be brave and tenacious, but the real grit comes out when you decide to keep on doing it.

I’m not exactly the best at this. Therefore, our family’s focus for February… is diligence.

I had been picking a word-focus every month for a while, and after several months I dropped the ball. At the encouragement of a wise friend, I’m picking that thing back up and resurrecting it today.

The definition of diligence is perseverance in carrying out an action.

It’s the perfect word for parents. This Mom-walk is all task after task, to-do after to-do, a constant pouring out, and a steady pushing through. So, we implement things that will teach or bless our children, our health, our home…. but often times it falls and never gets picked back up again.

And there’s grace! And we’re just human. And it’s all understood. But can you imagine what we could accomplish if we stuck with a plan every once in a while?

We might learn something, we might have healthier bodies, we might have better marriages, we might hold a book, or a degree, or a job offer at the end of it. We might teach our young people a thing or two about vigor and follow-through.

So, diligence it is.

To prove it to ya, I’m determining to post Monday-Thursday this week. All four days, not just two of them!

The next few posts will look at a few things that have been on my heart in regards to parenting, passions, and living on purpose. I have some notes already scribbled out to my right here, waiting to be weaved into something this week.

I better scurry off to get our school books out for the day.

Find something that you desire to be consistent in this month, and set out anew and fresh. Feel free to leave me a comment… to let me know what you might want to dive into. I will pray for you.

Looking forward to catching you tomorrow.

Self discipline in recording in my prayer journal every day and daily Bible reading. I’m hoping to read through the Bible in a year — am summarizing a book a week with two friends. I’m excited about doing it but it’s “amazing” how a day can almost be over and I haven’t done it. Can’t wait to see you next Sunday.

Yes! I feel like you’ve totally pinpointed my biggest struggle right now. In fact, yesterday, our Pastor spoke on prayibg specific and bold prayers. I wrote in my notes-“my life needs so much focus!” I am a champion dreamer, but not a great doer. Definitely needed to read this, friend. So good.

Oh friend, yes. So glad I’m not alone! And so glad you are such a faithful encourager to me in all my endeavors! I believe in you, your story, your giftings. I’m excited to see what the Lord does with it all! Grateful for you! – Kate 🙂
